Candy Torres: Technorican

Candy Torres Collection - Spacesuit - 002.jpg

Although Candy Torres calls herself the "Technorican," she is a woman who defies simple description. As an accomplished engineer and astrophysicist she worked for NASA over three decades and almost the entirety of the Shuttle program. She also learned to fly in high school "before I learned to drive a car," became an avid photographer, artist and poet, produced programs about space exploration for TV at Princeton, and became a competitive fencer.

Through new additions to the digitized Candy Torres collection at Arte Público, this exhibit seeks to reveal one small slice of this renaissance woman's life: her deep connection to spaceflight and space exploration.
