Dear Mr. Perales:
It is with a feeling of shame that I write you thus belatedly to say that I have not been able yet to prepare the article you recently asked from me.
Knowing that your book has been held up waiting on me, it is most humiliating not to be able even at this late date to send you my contribution. For many days this assignment has been haunting me and I have kept telling myself I would complete it tomorrow. But tomorrow never seems to arrive.
In view of the fact your book is ready to go to press, I can only suggest that my article be left out. This suggestion is offered with sincere reluctance since I felt your invitation was a high compliment and I looked forward with proud antici-pation to having a small place in the book.
If by any remote chance it has been necessary to advance the deadline of this publication and time remains to write the article, I would appreciate being advised. Otherwise, I can only apologize in deep humility for my inexcusable procrastination.
Sincerely yours,
Si Casady (Handwritten - Signature)
