Fábulas/Fables

Fables – a fable is a short story, usually on one or pages, that highlights animals, legendary creatures, or forces of natures that are anthropomorphized in various situations that lead to a particular moral lesson on how to improve the human condition. The fable typically concludes with and added maxim or saying that captures the lesson presented in the fable. Fables are an especially Mexican genre that captures the spirit of teaching the reader how to behave, also called a didactic approach. Several of Doña Ramona’s fables quote the 18th century fabulist, Tomás de Iriarte.

There are 15 original fables written in Spanish in Doña Ramona’s collection.
