Lack of Government Response

The war and the economic crises that accompanied the epidemic created various political and social conflicts during, which translated into a lack of government response regarding health measures. Because of this, marginalized communities often had to provide for themselves; for example, an article in La Prensa on October 28, 1918, mentions the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) offering community support to combat the epidemic.
